If anyone is thinking about attending the summer school at Durham, do not hesitate.

It was very tiring but so enjoyable

The accommodation was dated but comfortable and many of us had en suite rooms.

The walk from the "laboratories" to the college was uphill - very steep.

Transport was provided for those unable to manage the walk.

The days out were lengthy and we were in the open air for several hours but help was at hand to carry our "tools" and to get us over the tricky parts.

Each group of 10-12 students had a tutor, demonstrator and at least 1 helper.

There were 2 coaches each day, visiting the same places but not necessarily at the same time.

Here are some links to the field trips.

Sunday at Hillbeck Quarry above Brough

Monday at the Seaside - Staithes

Tuesday in Cumbria

Thursday in Teesdale

Friday at the "mystery quarry"

It was a full week but we did have spare time on the Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon (unless we wanted to attend all the tutorials).
